Our new library was officially opened on Friday 4th March by children's author Emma Barnes and local Councillor Pat Latty. Helping to open the library was Head teacher Lisa and other children: Olivier Goldthorpe, Mia Blackwell, Evie Woolford, Evelyn Walker, Emily Evans, Ruby Stansfield, Lucas Daniels-Nash, Jessica Firth. The children involved were the winners of a 'design a mascot' competition. The overall winner was Jessica Firth, whose design will be made into stickers and library stationary and hopefully a soft toy!
In the lead up to the opening, the library was open for parents to visit and have a look round. The feedback was really positive, commenting on the new look and books.
Year 4 and 5 children have been applying for librarian jobs and Miss Swallow has been inundated with applications! After careful consideration, Miss Swallow has selected 12 children for a rota up until the Summer holidays. A new member of staff, Miss Rae, will be opening the library on Wed and Thurs lunchtimes for children to read in there and also swap books. Any parents who could spare and hour 12-1 on any day to help in the library, would be great!!
On the same day, Emma Barnes did writing workshops all day with the entire school. There will be photos to follow!
Also, in support of World Book Day, the children and staff made a fantastic effort! Winners of best dressed were: Mia Coburn, Gracie Horner Glister, Daniel Burke, Rory Headwhite, Pavan Sangha, Dylan Dunn, Evie Tousend and James Wray
All children have been in the library this week and explored the new books. Further information is to follow on what they got up to and what they think...
