In November we had a whole school History focus week.
We carried out a number of activities during the week linked
with World War 1 & 2.
- researched key facts about the world wars
- wrote and performed remembrance poems
- performed 'We'll meet again' in the whole school assembly
- carried out interesting debates about whether children should have been evacuated during WW2.
We also found out why we wear poppies in the build up to Remembrance Day.
Each child made their own poppy and wrote a message on it to
remember the fallen.
We were also very lucky to have an author called Hilary Robinson come in to school and talk to us about her books linked to World War 1.
We found out about the Christmas Truce which was really interesting.
Lots of children had their books signed by Hilary after
the talk which was very exciting!!
